Parsons Benefit Opening Ceremony
Let me weep my cruel fate,
And let me breathe freedom!
Let sorrow break these chains
Of my sufferings, for pity’s sake.
When we find ourselves under chains that bind us, subjugate us, and force us into captivity, we, humans, are to sing, weeping sorrowfully yet dreaming. With the voice emanating from the void within that sings of liberation, recognizing and lamenting our fall, through and only through this sorrow, we unravel, dissolve, hash, and rust the rinds of fate that entangle us. May the voice emanating from our void—this cuffed and arrested sarcophagus—bless us in the name of freedom and our freeing from subjugation and oppression.
